Mason Wymer counsels employers on the day-to-day realities of labor and employment law. He advises clients on a broad range of workplace issues and defends employers in lawsuits and administrative proceedings involving the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and state-specific employment laws across the country.

Most recently, Mason served as in-house employment counsel for Atlanta’s transit authority, where he handled compliance, training and daily employee relations matters, including frequent work involving the Family and Medical Leave Act and the ADA. He also litigated cases and responded to agency changes. That experience gave him a firsthand understanding of the pressures clients face when balancing legal risk, operational demands and workplace culture, as well as insight into addressing HR issues before they lead to litigation.

The goal is to create a culture where everyone knows and follows the right way to lead people and the company builds a reputation for doing so. When a claim threatens that reputation, the quickest settlement is not always the best answer. Sometimes fighting vigorously protects the business, and sometimes there’s a business solution.”

Mason prides himself on being responsive and tailoring his counsel to each client’s business needs. He helps employers triage urgent employee issues and take practical steps to prevent disputes from becoming litigation. When litigation cannot be avoided, he works to resolve each matter as efficiently and cost-effectively as circumstances allow.

Mason’s litigation experience extends beyond employment law. He has represented subcontractors in multimillion-dollar construction disputes involving federal projects and has tried breach-of-contract, business divorce and fraud claims before judges and juries. His experience also includes False Claims Act and whistleblower matters, lien disputes, insurance and surety disputes and government contracting and compliance issues.

Outside the office, Mason is a frequent runner and an enthusiastic, high-handicap golfer at courses around Atlanta.
